Programme

FAWEZA’s core business is to enhanceZambian girls’participation in education and enabling them to lead fulfilling and successful lives to enable them contribute to national development.  To achieve this, FAWEZA runs a series of projects as out lined below:

  • SAfE CLUBS: life skillsclubs aimed at equipping learners especially girls with age appropriate life skills.
  • MOBILE LIBRARY: a library on wheels.  The intervention is aimed at contributing to the education target of enhancing quality education in schools.
  • SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME: The interventionaimed at reducing the number of learners dropping out of the education system due to economic pressures and to further promote access to education for the disadvantaged girls and boys.
  • STUDY GROUPS: set up to allow small group of pupils meet regularly to discuss shared fields of their studies.  The project is aimed at assisting scholars in examination classes on the scholarship programme to adequately prepare for their final national examinations
  • SMT TELEQUIZ AND EXPOSITION:Through this project, FAWEZA endeavours to influence education policies to transform the Zambian education system to become responsive to specific education needs of girls and women in order to accelerate their participation at all levels of the education system.
  • COMMUNITY ACTION GROUPS: Through project FAWEZA involves local communities through Community Action Groups (CAGs) in the decision-making processes in schools as they relate to the advancement of the Zambian child in education.
  • BUILDING BRIDGES: The Building Bridges project is aimedat amplifying the voices of women professionalswho have made it in life and are role models to the many girls who wish who to be like them, should they survive the cruel injustices surrounding the upbringing of female children in the Zambian society.

SAFETY AND SECURITY FOR GIRLS (SAfE HOUSES):The Safe house concept is an innovation by FAWEZA which aims at complimenting government efforts of curbing high dropout rates for girls due circumstances that put girls at risk such as: long distance to and from school and sexual abuse leading to unwanted pregnancies, mainly as a result of vulnerable girls living in unsupervised weekly boarding facilities.Through this project, it is highly hoped that, FAWEZA will transform the lives of girls and women at risk of violence through, the provision of a levelled playing field on which the girls and women can develop their innate leadership, be safe, heal, and learn.
